The latest narrative take on the question of immortality unfolds in the new film from Tarsem Singh (the music video wunderkind who then directed The Cell, the surreal journey into the mind of a serial killer with Jennifer Lopez, before slipping into the slightly less trippy loop with The Fall and Immortals). Self/Less follows the exploits of a wealthy businessman (Ben Kingsley) who makes a deal with a devilish corporate type (Matthew Goode) and gets his consciousness transferred into what was supposed to be a younger anonymous body (Ryan Reynolds), but that handsome vessel has a past that refuses to stay buried. The fight for forever begins. (Opens wide Friday) — (PG-13) Not screened in time for review
