Renaissance man Ethan Hawke steps behind the camera to document the life of Seymour Bernstein, a trained concert pianist who walked away from the stage and the spotlight in order to teach the instrument and life lessons for decades. The film captures the everyday wisdom of this exceptional teacher and man with as much grace and humility as its subject. It should be fascinating and instructive to watch the story unfold and think back on the career of Hawke, a would-be movie idol who has dabbled in writing and a host of endeavors off-screen, but thanks to his associations with indie filmmakers like Richard Linklater, may be on his way to making a similar transition into passion projects of his own. (Opens Friday, April 10 at Mariemont Theatre) (PG) Not screened in time for review
