Sports: ASA Action Sports Tour

The ASA Action Sports World Tour at Kings Island Saturday and Sunday will have all you need. The fourth stop on the 2009 tour features skateboard, BMX and freestyle motocross competitions, with some of the world's top extreme dudes participating. Witness

People who can do 360s in mid-air on BMX bikes receive a lot of street cred. It’s true: Ask anybody at CityBeat how much respect they have for the dude on staff who blasted one two-and-a-half years ago and swears he could do it again today.

For those who would rather watch this type of dangerous stunt performed by professionals (and those who don’t want CityBeat’s insurance to go up because someone needs to prove he’s not old), the ASA Action Sports World Tour at Kings Island Saturday and Sunday will have all you need.

The fourth stop on the 2009 tour will feature skateboard, BMX and freestyle motocross competitions, with some of the world’s top extreme dudes participating. Witness 2008 X Games champion Pierre-Luc Gagnon spin a 540 backside banana-grab and BMX vert world champion Jamie Bestwick bust a 720 barspin to double Donkey Kong. The dirtbike guys can stick their legs over any part of the bike. EXTREME!

Prelims start at 1 p.m. Saturday; finals start at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Popular rock band Collective Soul are in concert Sunday evening. All events are free with park admission ($32.99).
