Sports: Star Wars Weekend at Great American Ball Park

Will the force be with Joey Votto when he and the Redlegs take on the Brewers this weekend? Hopefully!

It’s no secret that the 2016 Cincinnati Reds are struggling — as of this week’s publication the rebuilding team was in last place in the division, nine games behind the first-place Chicago Cubs. But will the force be with Joey Votto when he and the Redlegs take on the Brewers this weekend? Hopefully! Star Wars Weekend will include postgame fireworks on Friday night featuring a Star Wars-themed soundtrack and a free poster to the first 20,000 fans; Saturday offers a Star Wars X-Wing fighter Mr. Redlegs bobblehead to the first 25,000; and Sunday is kids’ Star Wars Fathead wall decal day for those 14 and younger. Star Wars characters will also make appearances, and fun is likely to be had with all the player headshots on the Jumbotron.

7:10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 1:10 p.m. Sunday. $15-$257, Great American Ball Park, 100 Joe Nuxhall Way, Downtown, reds.com.
