A new drive-thru coronavirus testing site is opening in Erlanger.
St. Elizabeth Healthcare's testing site will be located at the Atlantic Corporate Center (25 Atlantic Ave.) and operate from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. daily Monday, May 11 through Friday, May 15. Testing is free.
This new drive-thru site comes in addition to testing available at five other St. Elizabeth facilities throughout Northern Kentucky.
Testing will be provided by appointment only, according to a release from the Northern Kentucky Health Department.
On the St. Elizabeth website it says, "St. Elizabeth is followingCDC guidelines for testing prioritization; inpatients are the top priority, so that we can place patients in the appropriate units and preserve personal protective equipment (PPE) for those who do not have COVID-19. Healthcare workers and first responders who are symptomatic are the next priority, along with symptomatic individuals who are at higher risk for complications due to COVID-19 because of underlying health conditions or their age. Otherwise healthy individuals in low-risk categories are not recommended for testing."
If you think you need a COVID-19 test or just want more information, you can call the St. Elizabeth COVID-19 hotline at 1-800-737-7900 starting Friday, May 8.
"As testing becomes more available throughout Northern Kentucky, we will get a better picture of the spread of COVID-19 in the region, and will be better able to prevent its spread through isolation of cases and contact tracing and quarantine," says Dr. Lynne Saddler, NKY Health district director of health, in a release.
As of the evening of May 5, there have been 628 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Northern Kentucky — 326 in Kenton County, 101 in Campbell County, 176 in Boone County and 25 in Grant County. There have been 40 deaths.
