An ideal haunted house to take the whole family, this haunt is set next to a Catholic church in the parish center. That alone gives it a built in creep, but the whole package is more of an easygoing haunted tour. There are some neat scares — the quaking elevator and the delightfully shocking funeral scene come to mind — but most of the tour is cheese and Nickelodeon-style frights. A crazed clown honks his own rotten nose and the mummy reaches mechanically for passersby.

There are some cool innovations here, too. No waiting in line — you can take a number butcher-shop-style and relax with carnival games (the Catholic casino), inexpensive grub and face painting for kids. It beats hanging out in a line for an hour but is worth the wait only if you’re binging on every haunt you can find or are easily scared like half the people I know.

THE WAIT: Lines are nonexistent thanks to the ticketing system. Take a number! The tour can take up to 20 minutes.
DETAILS: Open 7-10:30 p.m. Oct. 23, 24 and 30. 4108 W. Eighth St., Price Hill, 513-921-0247, www.stwilliamhauntedhouse.com
THE DAMAGE: $5. Save 50 cents with the donation of a can of soup. College students get $1 off admission with college ID Oct. 23.
