The title of the show currently onstage at Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati might be Next Fall, but it's only running for another week. That's longer than expected — it was originally set to close this weekend, but despite several added performances within the show's original three-week period, there was enough demand to add another weekend. That means you can actually buy tickets through Feb. 19. But you really shouldn't wait, because those will be scooped up before you know it.—-
The show (click here for my full review) received a handful of Acclaim Awards nominations — including a recognition for director D. Lynn Meyers and two of the show's actors, Michael Bath and Regina Pugh — and it's been recommended by the Acclaim panelists who saw it. They know what they're talking about and I can assure you that you'll find this a piece of theater that will keep you talking. It's about a gay couple — one devout and one dubious about faith — and the fallout from a fateful traffic accident. The show offers no easy answers, just good acting and an exploration of issues of faith, love, honesty and connection in today's world.
ETC has been offering strong shows all season, but Next Fall (which won the John Gassner Award for outstanding new American play from New York's Outer Critics Circle last May) is one that serious theatergoers should definitely see. Click here for dates, times and ticket info.
