Melissa McCarthy slips into Martha Stewart mode in The Boss, co-written and directed by her husband Ben Falcone (Tammy). Michelle Darnell (McCarthy) might be a captain of industry, but she’s also crass and completely opportunistic, which leads to getting caught up in an insider trading deal gone wrong. Forced to endure a brief “country club” prison stay, Darnell returns to life on the outside and struggles to step back into her top-dog role, but — watch out — she’s a diva with real bite. Leading a pack that includes Kristen Bell, Peter Dinklage, Dave Bautista and Kathy Bates, McCarthy seems ready to prove she’s The Boss of bosses.
