In a Pittsburgh neighborhood sometime last year, guitarist Gregg Kostelich was cleaning out his garage. On top of a box of croquet balls, hidden under a bicycle tire and a high school biology text book, were The Cynics. Left in the garage since 1995, the great fuzzed-out '60s-styled Punk troupe were a little older, a little dirtier, but ready to get back out on the road. A triumphant tour of Spain (everyone triumphs in Spain) followed and The Cynics were back in the same snarling form that made them one of the best Garage acts — along with The Lyres and the Lime Spiders — of the '80s. Fronted by singer Michael Kastelic and the aforementioned Kostelich, the reunited Cynics will be in Cincinnati in celebration of Shake It Records second anniversary.
