The Faux Frenchmen Do Woodsongs

Jan 19, 2009 at 2:24 pm

Cincinnati's Django-loving Gypsy Jazz group The Faux Frenchmen are taking the night off tonight from their usual Monday night gig at Tink's in Clifton (singer Annette Shepherd and Troubadour Dali are filling in) to journey down to Lexington. There, the band will record a live session for the excellent Kentucky public television series Woodsongs (which is somewhat similar to our own WNKU's great Studio 89 specials). —-

You don't even have to wait for the show to be broadcast — the session will be Webcast live tonight starting at 6:59 p.m. Just click here for info on how to dial it up. The Webcast will include an "encore" that won't be part of the television show.

The Frenchmen will also appear on Brian O'D's radio show on WNKU (89.7 FM) this Saturday at 1 p.m. in honor of Gypsy Jazz godfathers Stephane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt's birthdays. If you wanna see the band in the flesh, they're back at Tink's next Monday and then they'll perform at the Blue Wisp Jazz Club on Jan. 30.
