Parisian director François Ozon (Swimming Pool, Young & Beautiful) knows how to tease and subtly manipulate audience expectations, especially when playfully inserting sexuality into the mix. So his latest, The New Girlfriend, which dresses itself up as a humanist drama, will likely delve quite subversively into smart comic territory as it explores and exposes the truth a woman (Anaïs Demoustier) discovers about her late best friend’s husband (Romain Duris).
