The question regarding our place (and by extension the planet Earth’s) in the universe has never truly been explained, at least not satisfactorily and it appears that a new round of investigation may further alter our perceptions. The Principle, from writer Rick DeLano and director Katheryne Thomas, presents new scientific evidence that challenges the assumptions that form the foundation of our modern worldview (the Copernican principle). And it seems as if the Copernican Revolution and the theory of relativity are on the verge of attack again. The film gathers a host of cosmologists on all sides of the issues and lets them talk it out with our cultural and religious ideologies hanging in the balance. (Opens Friday, April 24 at Regal Deerfield) (PG) Not screened in time for review
