This international collaboration (England and Germany) will likely remind audiences of the 2007 documentary Young@Heart, which focused on a senior citizen choir that re-interpreted contemporary popular music. The lovely and uplifting premise certainly seemed like it had the makings of a fictional story, and in Unfinished Song (from writer-director Paul Andrew Williams, best known for darker fare like his 2008 double feature The Children and Cottage) we get what may feel like the perfect second verse and hook, as a curmudgeon (Terence Stamp) decides to honor his deceased wife by joining her choir, while also reconnecting with their estranged son (Christopher Eccleston). With able support from Vanessa Redgrave and Gemma Arterton, expect Stamp to rock your socks off. Now open at Esquire Theatre. (PG-13) Not screened in time for review.
