Editor's note: A previous version of this story incorrectly listed April 26 as the last day of voting for DHL-CVG employees; April 28 is the last day for DHL-CVG employees to vote in the Teamsters union election. Results should be available later that same night.

Ramp workers for both Amazon and DHL at CVG are fighting separate union fights, but organizers at the Amazon Air Hub said a victory at DHL could inspire momentum at Amazon.

Ramp workers at DHL-CVG in Erlanger, Kentucky, began voting on unionization this week. April 28 is the last day of voting, and organizing Amazon employees plan to demonstrate a "solidarity standout" outside the DHL facility on April 27 to show support.

"Winning the union vote at both facilities would be a massive victory," reads a post from organizers on Instagram. "The labor movement was built on the principal that 'an injury to one is an injury to all,' and Amazon Labor Union KCVG is committed to doing everything we can to support your union drive at DHL."
Organizing employees at DHL are looking for higher pay and safer working conditions. A union organizer for DHL recently told CityBeat there were at least 22 workplace injuries that required transport from the DHL facility to a hospital or emergency room in 2022.
“We’re solving problems for our company that aren’t even taught in on-the-job training. We figure it out just by conversations and off-hand on-the-job experience,” said Garrett Schwing, a ramp lead for DHL-CVG. “A company of our size cannot afford to do this anymore. They cannot afford to put people’s lives in danger and say, ‘you’ll figure it out.’”

DHL has not responded to CityBeat's request for comment on the union drive at CVG.
