A summit of neighborhood leaders from Cincinnati's West Side is being planned by the Westwood Civic Association (WCA).
The association is inviting all West Side neighborhood groups, not just those from its home base of Westwood, and says it's seeking input on topics that will be discussed.—-
WCA sent invitations via e-mail to organizations and individuals in East Price Hill, Lower Price Hill, Mount Airy, Northside, Riverside, Sayler Park, Sedamsville, South Cumminsville, South Fairmount and West Price Hill, among others.
The invitation reads, “The purpose of this gathering of West Side leadership is to discuss the direction the city of Cincinnati is going with respect to city provided services, the budget, chronic nuisance properties, neighborhood boundaries, crime and safety, blight abatement, NSP funding, and other topics of interest to the West Side.
“This is not meant to be a candidate's forum since WCA will host a candidates forum on Oct. 7th at the Town Hall,” it continues. “However, candidates will be invited to attend and hear our concerns.”
WCA President John Sess told CityBeat that the summit's agenda will evolve as topics are suggested by invitees.
Some neighborhood groups elsewhere in the city have had often heated debates about neighborhood boundaries. The disputes include one between Hyde Park and Oakley, and between Covedale and West Price Hill.
The summit is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 5 at Westwood Town Hall, 3017 Harrison Ave.
