Winter weather can make for an ugly commute, but it certainly improves the bleak cold-weather landscaper. That’s particularly true for the miles of hiking trails at Cincinnati Nature Center's Rowe Woods.—-
Then there are the natives.
"Birds at the feeder include an immature Red-Tailed Hawk which seems to pose for even amateur photographers, as well as less common winter birds such as Pine Siskins, Rusty Blackbirds, Purple Finches and American Tree Sparrows," says Bill Creasey, CNC’s chief naturalist.
The tracks of deer and field mice can be seen on the trails and across frozen ponds and lakes. And all kind are more visible in the bright white backdrop created by the snow.
Warm up in the CNC's Rowe Visitors Center and watch the wildlife through the windows or learn about them from informational displays.
Cincinnati Nature Center is open seven days a week. Admission is free on Mondays but $3 for adults and $1 for children Tuesday through Friday. The price goes up a bit over the weekend, $5 for adults and $1 for children Saturday and Sunday, but that’s still a cheap ticket with all proceeds going to benefit CNC.
