Paddlers’ Paradise Creekside Yurt
Frankfort, Kentucky
$123 per night | Hosts 2 Guests
”Spend the night at THE ONLY creekside stay on the main branch of the Elkhorn, and be lulled to sleep by the sound of the creek that carried you all day. This paddlers’ paradise is not your ordinary 'camping spot.' A Lotus Belle yurt, fire pit and shaded hangout spot are nestled between horse paddocks and open fields, 40 feet above the Elkhorn Creek near Peaks Mill. You’ll be struck by the quiet here, like it’s just you, the fireflies and the creek—and the occasional whiny of a horse.” — airbnb.com

Devou Park
    1201 Park Drive, Covington
It is said that Cincinnati is built on seven hills, like Rome— the city is actually named for Roman agrarian and military general Cincinnatus— but the reality is we have plenty more hills, heights and neighborhood names that begin with "Mount" than that. The alternating peaks and valleys of the city create excellent views from a variety of vantage points. There are about 50 classified scenic overlooks throughout the Tristate and many other secret spots from which to see the lights of the city and the winding Ohio River and Devou Park in Covington might have one of the best. With over 700 acres (plus a golf course, trails, bandstand and history museum), the overlook area is open dawn to dusk and offers a panorama of the city skyline from the Big Mac Bridge and Great American Tower to Carew Tower and the Kroger building. The designated overlook also offers benches, a gazebo, picnic tables and is ADA accessible.

Ride the 11 original attractions at Kings Island
This summer marks Kings Island’s 50th anniversary. The amusement park staked its claim in Mason in 1972 as a replacement for the longtime — and frequently flooded — favorite Coney Island. While Coney only closed from 1971-1973 before reopening its attractions along the banks of the Ohio River, many of its classic rides (and employees) made their way to Kings Island. According to King Island’s area manager, digital marketer and roller coaster-enthusiast Don Helbig, there were only 60 attractions when the new theme park opened; today, there are more than 100. While we have loved and lost many favorites to retirement (RIP Phantom Theater), these 11 attractions have been around since the park opened in 1972, though several have been renamed, multiple times: Eiffel Tower, Dodgem, Grand Carousel, The Racer, K.I. & Miami Valley Railroad, Monster, The Scrambler, Peanuts’ Off-Road Rally (fka Pee Wee Raceway), Linus’ Beetle Bugs (fka Funky Phantom), Race for Your Life Charlie Brown (fka the Kings Mills Log Flume) and Woodstock Express (fka The Beastie). visitkingsisland.com.
