No. 5 Best Takeout: Gomez Salsa
    107 E. 12th St., Over-the-Rhine
Gomez Salsa in Over-the-Rhine has a walk-up takeout window, so it's no wonder it made it on this list of best takeout. Between Gomez's signature turtles — a burrito-sized tortilla stuffed with meat, veggies, salsa and sauce and sealed with a crunchy cheesy kiss — tacos, burritos and fresh drinks, there is something for everyone. Gomez also has a restaurant in Walnut Hills for sit-down dining.

3. Boomtown Biscuits & Whiskey
    1201 Broadway St., Pendleton
It’s biscuit time any time at this frontier-themed eatery. The star of the show — and menu — are baked golden nuggets of goodness. These buttery, soft discs with a close crumb and a browned, lightly bubbled top are present in everything from sandwiches and bowls to sweets. The Gold Shoes has three biscuits and a choice of gravy — Sawmill, Peppercorn or Vegan Tomato. Also check out Aunt Sally’s Shrimp: Thai-inspired lemongrass shrimp with coconut chili gravy, smoked cheddar grits, and diced country ham. A second location will be opening in Union, Kentucky this year.

Zip's Cafe
    1036 Delta Ave., Mount Lookout
Zip’s has been doing burgers right since 1926, and generations of East Side Cincinnatians call Zip burgers their favorite. If you’re feeling like a light meal, order a classic Zip burger, with fresh, flame-broiled meat from local butcher Avril-Bleh & Sons, nestled in a toasted honey-egg bun from Klosterman Baking Company, and a side of super crispy onion rings. Or go big with the Girth Burger, a Zip burger topped with a split Avril-Bleh mettwurst. With worn wood flooring and dark wood paneling, the small space is separated into a dining area and a bar by a saloon-style door with a model train circling above. Head to the back bar for a local beer on draft while you wait for space at a booth or a seat at one of the shared family-style tables.
