We’ve compiled a list of available pets from a few local adoption programs to help you on your mission of finding the pet that’s right for you. This is just a small glimpse into each agency’s list of adoptable pets. If you are interested in seeing what else they have to offer, visit their websites to learn more. Baby Ruth is an 8 week old shepherd mix and weighs 6lbs. She is the smallest of the litter, but is able to keep up with her siblings. Baby Ruth loves to snuggle and will let you know when you are not paying enough attention to her. She loves to chew on a soft squeaky toy, especially if you are playing with her! Age: Kitten / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Male / Rescue: Purrfect Friends
Chevy & his siblings Lincoln, Kia & Mustang Sally were found as tiny orphans at a salvage car lot, hungry & alone. No sign of mama kitty & they needed help. They have thrived in foster care & are all awesome, sweet, affectionate babies! Chevy is a sweet boy, he loves to play & is always purring. He likes to be held & has swirly tabby markings & 2 stripes down his back. Chevy is confident, playful and sweet. He needs to be adopted with a buddy or ideally have another young kitty that will play with him.
Photo: Purrfect FriendsStella
Age: 1.5 Years Old / Breed: American Bulldog / Sex: Female / Rescue: Stray Animal Adoption Program
Hello all and let me reintroduce Ms. Stella as unfortunately she is back with SAAP. Stella is a 1 1/2 year old American Bulldog Mix who is true to her breed. She was returned due to marking in her prior home and being dominant over the other dog but did not display any aggressive behaviors. She is truly a Bulldog and rescue is requesting next adopter to be very knowledgeable of the breed. Stella truly loves her person, likes to be outside and great on a leash. She plays with toys and can be affectionate. She can be very silly at times and when excited does what I call her little hippy hop dance lol. She is a gorgeous girl but again a true bulldog as her personality is very low key and somewhat aloof. She needs a new forever family who will love her for who she is and not give up on her.
Photo: Stray Animal Adoption ProgramOld Red
Age: 8 Years Old / Breed: Hound / Sex: Male / Rescue: Stray Animal Adoption Program
Old Red is searching for his home. Despite his grey muzzle, he is only 8 years old and loves to take walks and play with his stuffed toys. Foster mom calls him Big Red since he is sensitive about being called old and he is full of youthful fun. Red is good with other dogs and people. He is a bit too interested in cats so a cat free home please. He loves a soft dog bed, chewing on bones and sitting outside on a warm sunny day. He does take a heart pill twice a day which he gets with his meal and eats it without difficulty.
Photo: Stray Animal Adoption ProgramLottie
Age: 16 Weeks Old / Breed: Spaniel Mix / Sex: Female / Rescue: Louies Legacy Animal Rescue
Meet Lottie, or as her foster mom calls her, Lottie-Dah! This little lady is a 16 week old Spaniel mix, weighing about 7lbs. She is fostered with both large and small dogs and gets along well with everyone! She has also been introduced to a cat and loved it! Lottie’s favorites include playing with her foster siblings (especially the largest dog in the house), diving head first into the grass outside followed by a lot of leaf and stick chasing, and standing smack in the middle of her food bowl during her meals. She has a lot of personality and love to share, and would make a great and entertaining addition to a family with either no children or older children and another playful, submissive dog!
Photo: Louies Legacy Animal RescueBlossom
Age: 3 Months Old / Breed: Domestic Long Hair / Sex: Female / Rescue: Louies Legacy Animal Rescue

Blossom has been fostered with two small children who shes done great with so far.
Photo: Louies Legacy Animal RescueToby the Baussie
Age: 4 Months Old / Breed: Beagle-Australian Shepherd Mix / Sex: Male / Rescue: Sweet Dream Rescue House
Do you like Aussies? How about Beagles? Well take a look at the perfect mix — the Baussie! TOBY THE BAUSSIE has a beautiful face, beagle ears and the cutest little Aussie tail! This little 4 month old 10 lb gem is sweet, cute, cuddly, kissy, smart and full of energy. Toby the Baussie wants to play play play! He really needs a canine playmate and a fenced yard so he can run and chase ball while he trips over his own feet! Toby the Baussie will probably be 25 lbs when fully grown. He doesn’t know a stranger and gets along with all dogs. Older dogs think he’s quite a nuisance but young dogs certainly enjoy this little spitfire. He loves to chase balls and toys and even chase the dogs that sneak off with them. Toby the Baussie is crate trained and appears to be housebroken. This adorable pup will go to an adopter on a foster-to-adopt basis. His adoption will not be finalized until all vetting covered by our adoption fee is completed
Photo: Sweet Dream Rescue HouseHero
Age: Puppy / Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Sex: Male / Rescue: Adoption First Animal Rescue – Kentucky
My name is Hero and my foster mom always says I’m the cutest most bestest boy around! Even though I still sometimes chew on everyones shoes, the small humans get in more trouble than me for not putting them where they belong. I like to think I’m just helping them try and remember when I do it. I really enjoy hanging outside and just observing nature. I’m really enjoying all the leaves this time of the season. Sometimes I’ll see our neighbor’s young nephew outside and it makes me so excited. I love kids! I enjoy kissing their faces all over! Sometimes I get a little too excited and may give a little nibble. It’s not usually too bad, but I do still have some sharp puppy teeth! Mom says she just hates to see me go, but she knows someone out there needs me as much I need them. I’ll stick by your side always and promise to stay just as sweet as I am now!
Photo: Adoption First Animal Rescue – KentuckyGinger Bee
Age: Young / Breed: Pitbull Terrier Mix / Sex: Female / Rescue: Save the Animals Foundation
This wrinkly faced pittie mix was found tied up in an abandoned home, underweight and flea-ridden. Currently recovering from spay surgery in the home of one of our volunteers, Ginger is so grateful for regular meals, a warm bed and–most of all–the company of humans which she so adores. A well-rounded girl, Ginger’s perfect date would include chasing ball for 20 minutes, snuggling for 10 minutes, and repeating. Just one year old and a highly-snugglable 36 pounds, Ginger Bee is an enthusiastic lap dog and loves to watch football. She also has a wild side and will play hard with another dog. She loves new people, but needs to work on *not* jumping up to greet them. She is crate-trained, a bit of a puller on leash, and very VERY interested in SQUIRRELS!!!
Photo: Save the Animals FoundationLillipeep
Age: Kitten / Breed: American Short Hair / Sex: Female / Rescue: Lucky Tales Rescue Inc.
Hello! Lillipeep here! I am a TOTAL baby! I was raised from a very young age by my foster parents so I am a bit spoiled. I am super sweet and easy going. I love to be loved on. I would really like to find a home with another cat who will enjoy my company! I do well with dog and other cats.
Photo: Lucky Tales Rescue Inc.Hailey Rose
Age: 1 Year Old / Breed: Terrier Mix / Sex: Female / Rescue: Sweet Dream Rescue House
Sweet HAILEY ROSE was such a frightened little girl when she arrived but she’s blossomed into a wonderful dog in her foster home. She’s a beautiful, good natured dog. Hailey Rose is young, about 18 months old and fully grown at 38 lbs. She’s a sweet terrier mix, housebroken and crate trained. She’s a very quiet medium energy girl who loves playing with the other dogs in her foster home. She’s still a bit frightened by new things. She’s best suited to a home with no small children (under 5) with a fenced yard in case she gets spooked and tries to run, but she could also do well in an apartment or condo with regular walks.
Photo: Sweet Dream Rescue HouseRocky
Age: Adult / Breed: American Bulldog / Sex: Male / Rescue: Queen City Bulldog Rescue
Rocky is AMAZING and albeit isn’t aggressive towards other dogs, can become a bit too excited and therefore would do best as the only animal in the home. He’s the perfect combo of snuggly and playful and is bound to make the BEST companion.
Photo: Queen City Bulldog RescueJeremiah
Age: Young / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Male / Rescue: Purrfect Friends
Jeremiah is one sweet cat. It appears that he was dumped at a park – he is SUPER sweet so we cannot imagine why anyone would abandon him? He just wants to be loved and will crawl all over you for it. He is hard to get a picture of him because he just wants to be with you!
Photo: Purrfect FriendsPepperoni
Age: 1.5 Years Old / Breed: Dachshund-Chihuahua Mix / Sex: Male / Rescue: Little Hills of Kentucky Animal Rescue
Hi I’m Pepperoni! I’m a 16 lb. Dachshund/Chihuahua mix. I’m 1.5 years old. I love to lounge around with my foster parents and get pets. I can be shy at first but I warm up quickly. I’m good with the dogs and cats in my foster home. I can be quite vocal when I want something and when my foster parents leave the house, but I’m usually pretty quiet otherwise. I’m crate trained and working on my potty training. Sometimes I don’t like being approached and I run because I am scared. I also get anxious in a loud environment so I don’t think a home with small kids would be best for me! I am not a good apartment dog as I do bark when I am alone.
Photo: Little Hills of Kentucky Animal RescueBach
Age: Adult / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Male / Rescue: OAR
Bach is a big boy with a big heart. After winning him over, Bach will love you forever. He’s a little shy and needs some extra attention, but once you let him know you’re in his life for the long-haul, he’s like butter! Bach was once a beloved pet who lived with his brother Beethoven. They’re a little nervous now that they’ve been displaced, but with some tender love and care, they’ll be wonderful companions for you and yours!
Photo: OARLucille
Age: Adult / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Female / Rescue: OAR
Lucille is a strong, adorable lady. She was hit by a car, breaking her hips and pelvis, but has made a full recovery! She does have a bobbed tail now, making her look a bit like a bunny rabbit. She also is partially fecal incontinent due to nerve damage, but it’s nothing a good wipe down can’t manage. Lucille loves playing with other cats in the lobby, and being picked up and snuggled. She is a sweetheart who would love to go to a home with plenty of lounge space and windows for bird watching. Come meet the lil bunny Lucille today!
Photo: OARDoc
Age: 6 Years Old / Breed: Domestic Short Hair-Tabby Mix / Sex: Female / Rescue: Save the Animals Foundation
Seeking an intelligent female whos warm and loving but that doesnt demand constant attention? That describes Doc and in this case, its not too good to be true! This young girl is independent and although she likes affection, she likes to do her own thing as well. Doc is on the petite side with gorgeous marbled brown and white markings and obvious smarts in her golden eyes. Come visit Doc and youll be charmed.
Photo: Save the Animals FoundationWinifred
Age: 2 Years Old / Breed: Beagle / Sex: Female / Rescue: Sweet Dream Rescue House
Sweet Winifred is a beautiful petite tricolor beagle girl looking for her furever home. She’s just 2 years old and fully grown at 19 lbs. Winifred came to us from a rural shelter and was so timid when she arrived, but she’s really come out of her shell in her foster home. She loves to play and loves kids. She is dog, cat and people friendly. Winifred is housebroken and crate trained. She needs a securely fenced yard because she’s very speedy and has a beagle nose that can get her into trouble. She seeks the companionship of a playful confident dog. She walks well on a leash, rides well in the car, sleeps through the night. Basically Winifred is perfect.
Photo: Sweet Dream Rescue HouseSkye
Age: Young / Breed: Tabby-Domestic Short Hair Mix / Sex: Female / Rescue: Little Hills of Kentucky Animal Rescue Inc.
Skye is a beautiful super soft orange cream colored cat. She was brought in with two other cats and was instantly the most social in her foster home. She loves humans and likes to be where the action is. She will gladly sit close by while receiving pets or snuggle on a bed with whoever has attention to give. She IS NOT aggressive to other cats but she seems to be afraid of them. She could adjust to a cat over time but would not do well if there is a dominant cat or multiple cats in a household.
Photo: Little Hills of Kentucky Animal Rescue Inc.Paige
Age: Young / Breed: Labrador Retriever / Sex: Female / Rescue: Stray Animal Adoption Program
Here is beautiful Paige, who is definitely still a puppy! She does great sleeping in her crate. We have had only one or two accidents. She is a lab mix, probably with a terrier of some sort. She is up to date on shots, microchipped and spayed. She does well with larger female dogs, but though her best friend is a male dachshund, she is dominant in that relationship and has not responded well to dominant males. She is filled with puppy energy, but she loves to cuddle even more! Oh, and when she coughs, it sounds like she was out smoking the night before. I gotta say, it’s really adorable.
Photo: Stray Animal Adoption ProgramRadar
Age: Kitten / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Male / Rescue: Stray Animal Adoption Program
Radar is a spunky and hyperactive kitten. He is full of energy and really enjoys belly rubs. He gets along great with other cats, has been warming up to the resident dog, and Radar is good with all ages. He can be very affectionate, but also has typical kitten energy.
Photo: Stray Animal Adoption ProgramSchaefer
Age: Young / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Male / Rescue: Stray Animal Adoption Program
Schaefer is a sweet fella on the hunt for his forever home. He absolutely adores his people and will happily spend his days sleeping on your lap. When he is well rested, he gets spurts of energy where he flies through the room smacking his favorite toys or tackling his brother, Sonny. Schaefer is great with other cats. Dogs are unknown, as there are none in his foster home, but due to his easy-going nature, I do not suspect him to have any issues with them.
Photo: Stray Animal Adoption ProgramSnowball
Age: 3 Years Old / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Female / Rescue: Louies Legacy Animal Rescue
Snowball is a beautiful domestic short hair. She’s 3 years old. Snowball is very shy at first, but once she’s settled in, she’ll never leave your lap! She will hide from new people until she decides they are safe. She prefers a calm environment and a safe place to go when things get busy. Snowball isn’t a fan of dogs bigger than her, and doesn’t interact with other cats in her foster home. She does love chasing laser pointers and getting treats. If you are looking for a snuggly cat to warm your lap.
