Although she’s no longer a TV news reporter, maybe Laure Quinlivan still isn’t used to not having fact-checkers around to provide backup.

Quinlivan, a former reporter with WCPO-TV’s I-Team who is now running as a Democrat for Cincinnati City Council, distributed an e-mail Wednesday in Democratic circles seeking volunteers for upcoming campaign events. Given the targeted audience, however, Quinlivan might have wanted to pay closer attention to her spelling.—-

One of the events listed in the e-mail where the campaign needs volunteers is, “Monday — Labor Day Picnic at Coney Island featuring President Baraq Obama.”

Several Democrats brought the e-mail to CityBeat’s attention, including one person who remarked, “Don’t you think that if you are a Democrat running for public office, that you should know how to spell the name of the President of the United States?”

Or at least use a spell-check program.

Personally, I’ve always liked the president’s cream soda and root beer flavors.
