Zvuloon Dub System

Zvuloon Dub System

The summer-long “Reggae Wednesdays” concerts on Fountain Square get multi-cultural in a big way this week as Israel’s Tel Aviv-based ensemble Zvuloon Dub System comes to town. The group began in 2006 as a ’70s-styled Roots Reggae band, but three years later Ethiopian native Gill Yalo became ZDS’s singer, bringing with him an element of Ethiopian Soul music. Thanks to the skills of the musicians, the fusion works incredibly well and sounds perfectly natural, as evidenced on albums like this year’s Anbessa Dub. The eight-piece group has been touring North America this summer and soon heads to Montego Bay to showcase its soulful fusion style at Jamaica’s huge Reggae Sumfest.

7 p.m. Wednesday. Free. Fountain Square, Fifth and Vine streets, Downtown, myfountainsquare.com.
