It is always a fun endeavor to go to a smaller venue and see a band on the rise, to take in a group that has the potential for bigger and better things. That is the scenario for this week’s concert by Ivan & Alyosha at the Mayday in Northside.
The band hails from Seattle and, yes, with its bright and sunny songs, there are unavoidable comparisons to Mumford & Sons, especially in this age when everything Mumford has blown up. But Ivan & Alyosha does its own thing while still being a part of this cool trend of bringing melody back to Folk Pop music.
