CityBeat‘s favorite road reporter and Ohio River watcher Bill Rinehart of WVXU’s All Things Considered is launching a new radio segment called “OKI Wanna Know.”
OKI — as in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana — will be asking regional Tri-State listeners to submit queries that have long plagued their psyche. Par exemple from the release: “Have you always wondered why Reading isn’t pronounced like reading books? How about if there’s a connection between Ludlow Avenue and Ludlow, Kentucky?”
What about how goetta is made? Or why we say “please?” instead of “huh?” What about the Loveland Frogman? Is the inventor of the Pringles can really buried here in a Pringles can? Did the term Parrothead really originate in Cincinnati?
“Ever wondered about something and then worried that you’d get laughed at if you asked? That’s what ‘OKI Wanna Know’ is all about: Asking the questions that everyone wants to know, (or maybe just you), but are too embarrassed to bring up,” says Rinehart.
