Acclaimed singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile showed her support for two Northern Kentucky children’s choirs who did a sweet cover of her song “Crowded Table.”

Last night (Dec. 9), Alison Peeno, choral music director at Turkey Foot Middle School in Edgewood, Kentucky, shared on Twitter a video of the school’s choir performing the song with The Treetop Singers from nearby R.C. Hinsdale Elementary.

We had a very special honor to sing with The Treetop Singers from @RCHPatriots tonight!” Peeno tweeted, tagging Carlile and The Highwomen, the supergroup also featuring Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris and Amanda Shires that recorded the song for their self-titled debut album. “It was so beautiful to see these elementary and middle school choirs combine to perform such a powerful song.”

It is indeed a powerful song about inclusiveness and empowerment, which is given extra emotional weight coming from the kids. The chorus is “I want a house with a crowded table/And a place by the fire for everyone/Let us take on the world while we’re young and able/And bring us back together when the day is done.”

Within just a few hours, Carlile — who co-wrote “Crowded Table” with Hemby and Lori McKenna — responded, retweeting the video to her nearly 108,000 followers.

“This is so beautiful,” Carlile wrote.
