Mixologist Julia Petiprin was recently named the Cincinnati semi-finalist for the United States Bartenders’ Guild’s inaugural Lux Row Distillers Cocktail Competition

The former Los Angeleno turned passionate Cincinnatian has left her mark on the Queen City with the recent opening of her OTR cocktail spot Homemakers Bar (with co-owner Catherine Manabat) and in her role as director of operations and design for Circle Hospitality Group and its first venture, Sundry and Vice.

The event was held last night (July 9) at Wiseguy Lounge in Over-the-Rhine. Mixologists prepared a cocktail using sponsor Lux Row Distilling bourbon for a four-person panel which voted to decide on a Cincinnati semi-finalist; audience members also voted on their favorite.

According to a press release from Lux Row Distillers, Petiprin’s “Fools Rush In” cocktail (recipe below) stole the show, earning her the semi-finalist title from the panelists. Wiseguy Lounge’s Scott Augsburger whipped up a cocktail called “Mind the Monarch” which was named the crowd favorite.

In addition to the honorable title and trophy, Petiprin also received an all-expenses paid trip to the Kentucky Bourbon Festival this September to compete against the other semi-finalists for the grand prize.
