Greater Cincinnati restaurateurs Bill and Morgan Whitlow have announced they’re closing two of their Northern Kentucky concepts.
Both Rich’s Proper Food & Drink and Hangy Omar’s Slider Shack in Covington Yard will close on Sunday, Dec. 15. The Whitlows shared the announcement on social media Wednesday.
“We have LOVED serving the Cov. for the past 6 years. It has been an honor to be part of such an amazing team, sharing our passions for great food, bourbon, memorable moments, and heartfelt connections with all of you,” the Whitlows wrote. “We have poured everything we have into our restaurants and this incredible community. This decision was not made lightly and is no reflection on the amazing work of every single person on our team. This industry is HARD, and sometimes even the deepest dedication and hard work are not enough to sustain the journey.”
Rich’s Proper opened on Covington’s Madison Avenue in 2018 and has since become known for its Southern-inspired dishes and extensive collection of bourbon. Hangry Omar’s was a slider concept that debuted at open-air food park Covington Yard in late 2020. The concept expanded to Oakley Greens earlier this year, which will remain open, as will the Whitlows’ other concept, Opal Rooftop Restaurant & Bar in Covington.
“To every person who has been part of our team, to every guest who dined with us, laughed with us, and made this journey unforgettable—thank you. You’ve been the heartbeat of everything we do,” the couple wrote.
