Soon, Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park will once again come alive with the sounds of baseballs cracking against bats, cheering crowds and cries of “Popcorn! Peanuts!” as the start of the 2025 baseball season begins.
The Cincinnati Reds’ Opening Day will be Thursday, March 27 as the Reds take on the San Francisco Giants. But while you wait patiently for baseball’s return, you can check out the return of a popular Reds-themed art show in Northern Kentucky.
Local gallery UsbyUs has announced a revival of the show “199c,” which celebrates a love of both the Reds and art (199c is the Pantone shade for the Reds in the printing industry). Now reimagined as “200c: Rally Cap,” the show will be happening March 21-28 at CHRCH’s studio in Covington.
Described as “a full-throttle celebration of Cincinnati’s deep-rooted love for its iconic baseball team, the Reds,” 200c will feature an eclectic mix of media like screen prints, paintings, collages and sculptures from a group of artists and designers who used their work to reflect their love of the Reds.
The exhibition was first launched in 2014 at BLDG and included curators Matt Barnes and Nick Dew, who are also behind the revival show. Dew and Barnes promise to bring the same energy and passion to 200c that made 199c a hit.
An opening party for the exhibit will be held on Friday, March 21 from 6-10 p.m.
