A popular fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant is opening its first location in Greater Cincinnati.

Called one of Ohio’s best Mediterranean restaurants, Brassica, based in Columbus with currently six locations in the region, is set to open at Harper’s Station in Symmes Township sometime this winter, according to the restaurant’s brand agency, Mona Creative.

The restaurant is a family business owned by husband-wife team Kevin and Katy Malhame, as well as Kevin’s brother, Darren Malhame. The first Brassica opened in 2015 in Columbus, offering a menu of traditional Mediterranean flavors with a focus on organic and sustainable practices. The Malhames say the name comes from brassicas, a family of highly nutritious cruciferous vegetables that includes broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale and Brussels sprouts.

Brassica’s menu includes build-your-sandwiches, salads and hummus bowls, with plenty of Mediterranean ingredients you can add to them, like baba (a smoky eggplant dip), pita chips, beets, falafel and more. You can also add their signature Brassica Fries to your meal, or finish it off with a tahini chocolate chip cookie.

“At Brassica, we recognize that every decision we make affects the health of our community and the environment on a local and on a global scale,” reads a description on Brassica’s website. “We’re extremely careful about the ingredients we use. We choose locally grown, organic, and artisan produced foods not only to protect the environment and to support producers whose values are aligned with ours but also so that we are serving the most wholesome and delicious food.”
