Two roller coasters at Kings Island closed indefinitely Tuesday after a man died while riding a similar coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia on Monday.

Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem was riding the roller coaster titled Goliath, a “hyper coaster” (meaning it features a height of over 200 feet) manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard.

Orion and Diamondback, two of Kings Island’s premier attractions that are also more than 200 feet tall, were both manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard. Both rides have closed down “out of an abundance of caution,” a park representative said. Several other Bolliger & Mabillard coasters across the nation have also closed for similar reasons.

A Kings Island representative told CityBeat that there is no timetable for the reopening of either ride, but the park will still proceed with normal weekend operations for Halloween Haunt began this Thursday, October 15, while noting that “the safety of our guests and team members is our highest priority.”
