Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine gave museums the go-ahead to reopen on June 10. And the Cincinnati Art Museum just announced it will be reopening to the public on Saturday, June 20.

Hours that first weekend are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21. After that, hours will be 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursdays and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays-Sundays through early July, with plans for expansion after that.

If you’re a museum member, there are special member days on June 18 and 19 and member hours 10-11 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Although the museum is free, they are asking all visitors to register for a timed entry ticket before their visit to monitor museum capacity. Timed tickets are available at cincinnatiartmuseum.org

Other changes? Staff will be wearing masks and they ask that you do, too, as a courtesy; all in-person and hands-on programming has been canceled; hand sanitizer will be provided throughout the building; they will be increasing the frequency of their cleaning; they have installed a hospital-grade air filtration systems; tight spaces have been restricted or closed off; and they will be asking guests to observe social distancing. 

The shop and cafe will reopen June 18 with limited capacity, but the REC is closed. The Mary R. Schiff Library will be open by appointment only.  

“Art inspires and connects our communities across the Greater Cincinnati region. We’re thrilled to welcome all back to the Cincinnati Art Museum’s galleries to explore the diversity and richness of artistic expression and creativity,” said CAM Director Cameron Kitchin in a release.

Current exhibits include: “Something Over Something Else”: Romare Bearden’s Profile SeriesGorham Silver: Designing Brilliance, 1850–1970 and Women Breaking Boundaries. All exhibits will be free through the summer.

The museum has been closed since March 14.
