In 2024, Cincinnati was named the No. 11 “Best Places to Live and Work as a Moviemaker” by MovieMaker magazine, making it the seventh straight year the Queen City has earned the honor and the third straight year in that No. 11 spot.

The magazine highlighted Cincinnati’s low cost of living, Over-the-Rhine’s film festival, Ohio’s 30% motion picture tax credit and the city’s architecture and ability to pose as other cities, such as Chicago, as chief among the reasons for the city’s emergence as a stalwart that has lured films such as 2015’s Carol, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara; 2000’s Traffic, starring Don Cheadle and Benicio Del Toro; and 1988’s Rain Man, starring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise. And also brought freshly filmed movies like
The Bikeriders, starring Austin Butler, and Alto Knights (formerly known as Wise Guys), starring Robert De Niro.
