Are you ready to join Captain Mitchell's ghastly crew?

It may still be summer, but in Newport, they’re gearing up for Spooky Season.

USS Nightmare, one of Greater Cincinnati’s premier haunted attractions, is on the hunt for some scary monsters (actors and special effects makeup artists will also do) to join Captain Mitchell’s ghastly crew this fall. If jumping out and screaming at people sounds like a fun way to make some money, you can apply at their job fair this Friday and Saturday.

The haunted ship says crewmembers must be at least 16 years old. No acting experience is necessary, but they are looking for people with fun and energetic personalities. You also must be able to work during the show season, which is on Fridays and Saturdays Sept. 15-30 and then Thursdays through Sundays Oct. 1-Nov. 4.

Show times are from 7-11 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays and 7 p.m.-1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Makeup artists’ shifts usually start between 5-5:30 p.m. and actors’ shifts start between 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The job fairs run 6-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4 and noon-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 at BB Riverboats, River’s Edge (101 Riverboat Row, Newport). You’ll apply in person, and you’re asked to be prepared to be interviewed and fill out paperwork, so you’ll need to bring identification, like a valid passport or government-issued photo ID, along with a social security card or birth certificate.
