Can’t make it out to a farm to pick a pumpkin? Well, in Covington, the pumpkins are coming to you.

The Kenton County Library is hosting their first-ever “urban pumpkin patch” on Sunday, Oct. 17.

In what is usually the Reading Garden, located off the children’s activity room on the lower level of their Covington branch, organizers say, will be a magnificent patch where you can pick the perfect pumpkin.

Take your seasonal squash home with you to carve or stay at the library and enjoy some hot chocolate and apple cider while you decorate your perfect pumpkin.

Organizers say this event and pumpkins are free while supplies last. Pumpkins are limited to one per family.

If you want to enjoy more than pumpkin picking, there are many things to do around Cincinnati this weekend.

All the Kenton County Library branches are also holding a “Ghostly Guests and Scary Stories: Haunt Your Library Contest,” where participants can submit spooky poetry, stories, art or spoken word (in the form of video submissions) for a chance at winning prizes.

Enter your submission before Oct. 22 to be considered. Winners will be announced on Halloween. Find more information at kentonlibrary.org.

Visit the Urban Pumpkin Patch 2-4 p.m. Oct. 17 at 502 Scott Blvd., Covington, facebook.com.
