The BRIGHT Bike Ride will provide an unofficial start to BLINK on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

2022’s BLINK festivities will once again have an “unofficial” kick off with the dazzling and fun BRIGHT Bike Ride on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Art on the Street's BRIGHT Bike Ride has very few restrictions and only one ask: Come ready to shine. Participants can bring bikes, skateboards, skates, scooters and any other wheeled device. Riders can come decked out with battery powered lights on their wheels, on their devices and even incorporated into their costumes. There’s no such thing as too many lights, too many colors or too many wheels.  The big idea is simply to show off, shine bright and roll through Cincinnati, setting it figuratively alight for the coming days’ festivities.

BLINK runs Oct. 13 through Oct. 16 and is expected to attract light and art enthusiasts from across the world. This year BLINK leaders are already boasting the participation of several global artists. BRIGHT is just the very first chance to show visitors how Cincinnati turns up.

The official BLINK Art Bikes for 2022 are being created by artists Amphay Oudomsouk, Chandler Philpott and Stacey Vest and will be featured during BLINK’s official parade the following evening. However, ride organizers will be handing out several awards and invitations for BRIGHT riders to come participate in the BLINK parade.

The parade is slated to step off at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 from a currently unannounced location downtown and run through the Central Business District. The glowing procession is themed after “Together: a constellation of shared cultures and unique identities; we illuminate joy through creative expression.”

Participants are asked to meet at Findlay Market around 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 12. The ride will kick off at 7:30 and take a short, flat, and easily navigated ride from Findlay Market, through Over-the-Rhine, to Downtown. Findlay Market is located at 1801 Race St., Over-the-Rhine. Info: facebook.com.
