Women in Film Cincinnati and the Mercantile Library downtown are hosting a special event with one of the creatives behind some of cinema’s biggest cult classics.

J. Todd Anderson, a native of Dayton, Ohio, has crafted the storyboard for every Coen Brothers movie since Raising Arizona. He worked with other big names, including George Clooney, Jodie Foster and Drew Barrymore, and on several local productions, like A Rage in Harlem and The Old Man and the Gun. Anderson has also written and directed some of his own projects.

“His detailed, shot-by-shot drawings of what the directors plan to film, are an essential part of turning the Coens’ ideas into unique, memorable movies,” Women in Film Cincinnati said in a press release.

Anderson will be at the library Friday, Sept. 22 to discuss “The Art of the Storyboard” and to sell his new book, which features the complete storyboards of The Big Lebowski, which turned 25 this year. A VIP reception will be held at 5:30 p.m., with the general reception following at 6 p.m. and Anderson’s author talk at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for members and $25 for the general public. The VIP reception is $150. You can buy tickets online here.
