You may best know Hocking Hills glass artist Jack Pine for his beautiful glass pumpkins available to “pick” during the fall, but did you know you can also pick out some handcrafted garden art in the spring too?
Jack Pine Studio in Laurelville, Ohio, is hosting its fourth annual Glass Garden Art Festival Friday-Sunday, May 2-4. The festival features thousands of hand-blown Jack Pine glass garden art pieces and signature pumpkins in spring colors, along with the work of more than 20 other artists and vendors.
On Monday, the studio announced the annual Mother’s Day pumpkin design. This year’s design features a lush pink pumpkin with spring green accents and touches of iridescent gold to honor women who are fighting or who have fought breast cancer, as well as their families. Pine will donate 10% of all pumpkin sales, including those online, through May to the Smullen Family Fund for Breast Cancer Research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.
At the Glass Garden Art Festival, you can shop for Mother’s Day gifts, watch live glass-blowing demos and enjoy plenty of food, live music and activities. There will be Pine glass sculptures displayed in garden vignettes, as well as other works for sale, including metal sculptures, windchimes, paintings, jewelry and more. On the Friday of the festival, there will also be a special Taste of Morels event where attendees can sample four expertly crafted morel dishes and vote on their favorite. Tickets are $35 and include the price of weekend parking.
The festival is free to attend, but parking is limited. Visitors are encouraged to carpool if possible, and they can also reserve a parking space for $5 here. Each reservation receives a $5 coupon toward any Jack Pine glass art purchase.
The Glass Garden Art Festival runs from noon-7 p.m. Friday, May 2; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 3; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 4.
