A new, adrenaline-packed, live-action gaming venue is opening in Cincinnati this month.
Activate, an immersive gaming experience that uses state-of-the-art technology and has been going viral on TikTok, will open its first Ohio location in Oakley on Friday, May 31. The brand has 11 locations and a global player base of 2.5 million people, according to a press release.
“Opening our first location in Ohio fills us with immense excitement,” Will Gray, director of marketing at Activate Games, said in a press release. “We’re eager to bring the thrill of Activate to a new market, where we can engage and entertain even more adventurers. Get ready, Cincinnati, because an unforgettable experience awaits!”
Activate Cincinnati will be located at 3103 Disney St. The facility is open to people of all ages and skill levels, with players encouraged to explore and create a unique gaming experience of their own. Players can join in the fun in groups of two to five and will be given an RFID wristband, which they can use to track their progress as they earn points, level up and qualify for prizes.
In the gaming rooms, players can choose a level from 1-10, play as a team in cooperative mode or face off against each other in competitive mode. The most popular gaming rooms include Mega Grid, a viral sensation on TikTok featuring over 500 multi-activated, rainbow-colored tiles; Strike, a game in which players blast at a bullseye; and the Laser room, where players can feel like a modern-day spy. Each game lasts 1-3 minutes, with the full gaming experience lasting 75 minutes.
Activate recommends booking in advance to save time and ensure a game room is available. The experience is $25 Monday through Thursday and $30 Friday through Sunday. You will be able to book your room at playactivate.com/cincinnati when bookings open.
