The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden will be hosting penguin parades and special animal encounters this winter.
On top of unique animal presentations, the zoo is offering discounted admission for visitors through March 11, per a press release from the zoo.
“The zoo is still a wonderful place to visit during the colder months, and the deeply discounted admission that we offer makes it a very affordable outing,” said Cincinnati Zoo Director Thane Maynard in a release.
Catch penguin parades from Jan. 14-Feb. 28, Fridays through Sundays and holiday Mondays. The first parade takes place this Friday at 11 a.m. from the zoo’s Bird House to the Children’s Zoo entrance. You can follow the penguins back the same route later at 2:30 p.m. as they return to their indoor habitat.

In order for the king penguins to go outside it must be below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. On warmer days, the zoo is offering penguin chats instead.
Special encounters with rockhopper or Magellanic penguins take place at 11 a.m. on each non-holiday Monday at the Wings of the World Bird House.
If you get cold, warm up inside open habitat buildings and learn all about insects, reptiles and nocturnal animals. Indoor gorilla habitats are also available for viewing.
The Cincinnati Zoo is located at 3400 Vine St. and is open daily from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information, visit cincinnatizoo.org.
