Less than two weeks after filmmaker/provocateur Michael Moore staged a two-night performance at Wilmington’s Murphy Theatre to produce what was then billed as an anti-Donald Trump television special, the result will debut tonight at New York’s IFC Center as a film titled Michael Moore in TrumpLand.

The first-night free screening was announced on various film-business websites today, including indiewire.com and hollywoodreporter.com. IndieWire also announced the film will begin a regular run at that movie complex on Wednesday.

The IFC Center’s website is promoting the movie with this description: “See the film Ohio Republicans tried to shut down. Oscar-winner Michael Moore dives right into hostile territory with his daring and hilarious one-man show, deep in the heart of TrumpLand in the weeks before the 2016 election.”

That is a reference to the fact Moore had first planned to stage his show at a theater in Newark, Ohio, but it was canceled. Moore has claimed it succumbed to pressure from Ohio Republicans and banned him.

According to the film-business websites, Moore plans to screen his new film in New York and Los Angeles this week and then make it available on iTunes. He is self-distributing.
