Remember the magic as the Scholastic Book Fair’s rolling metal shelves, piled high with new books with glossy covers and crisp pages, transformed your school’s library or gym into a treasure trove of stories waiting to be told? Or maybe you stood in line at the checkout eagerly waiting to blow all your mom’s money on pencils with smiley-face erasers and Harry Potter posters.

Well, Cincinnati’s kids-at-heart, get ready to relive that nostalgia as not one, but two, Greater Cincinnati breweries are planning Scholastic Book Fair-style events. And the best part: This time, you guys can drink.

Boozy Book Fair at Northwood Cider Co.

From noon to 5 p.m. this Saturday, grab a drink and browse a collection of books from Roebling Point Books. Northwood Cider Co.’s menu includes a selection of ciders ranging from dry to sweet, as well as cider-based cocktails. And to really make you feel like a kid again, grab a quesadilla from Daizie’s Dillas food truck to fuel up for your book-buying adventure.

Hi-Wire Brewing will also be hosting its own book fair alongside independent bookstore The Bookmatters at the end of September. On Saturday, Sept. 30 from noon to 5 p.m., head to the brewery to browse a selection of books, stickers, posters and other goodies to help you relive your childhood, only with a serious upgrade in terms of adult beverages.
