Don’t be an L-7 weenie: Relive the nostalgia and come out to The Banks Thursday, Aug. 17 for a special screening of The Sandlot and get the chance to meet some of the original cast members.

Regarded as one of the best baseball movies of all time, The Sandlot is a 90s cult classic that doubles as both a fun baseball comedy and a touching, coming-of-age tale. The movie takes place in the summer of 1962 as protagonist Scotty Smalls moves to the San Fernando Valley and joins the neighborhood sandlot baseball team to make friends and unknowingly gets them into the biggest pickle of their lives. In honor of the movie’s 30th anniversary, The Banks will be hosting a free outdoor screening starting at 8:30 p.m.

Original cast members Grant Gelt (Bertram), Victor DiMattia (Timmy Timmons) and Shane Obedzinski (Tommy “Repeat” Timmons) will be at the screening representing their new youth sports nonprofit Play Forever (For-ev-ver!). They will also appear at Moerlein Lager House as celebrity bartenders before the screening.

The movie will be shown on Great American Ball Park’s screen on Joe Nuxhall Way near Freedom Way. Moviegoers are invited to set up lawn chairs for the screening.
