Cincinnati duck rescue and nonprofit Longbottom Bird Ranch is offering people the chance to “adopt” its feathered residents and support its mission to save domestic ducks across the city.

Located just behind the Mt. Airy Forest, the Longbottom Bird Ranch is a “duck retirement community” that rescues abandoned domestic ducks and hosts educational events to raise awareness about them. On the private farm, the ducks waddle around, living their best lives while owner Jimmy Longbottom looks after them — in some cases even nursing them back to health. The virtual adoption/sponsorship program helps support Longbottom’s rescue and care efforts throughout the year, and the 2025 program just launched.

The sponsorship is $120 per duck and lasts from the moment of purchase through December 2025. Each sponsorship includes a photo and card of your duck along with some information about them. You’ll also have your name displayed on Longbottom Bird Ranch’s website, and if you sponsor an unnamed duck, you get the chance to name them. And don’t forget to watch the rescue’s social media for the latest adventures of your adoptee.

Longbottom says the sponsorships also make great gifts for the animal lover in your life, and proceeds from the sponsorships will go toward the rescue’s feed fund.
