A popular Greater Cincinnati bakery is getting a new home. Sebastian Bakehouse says it will be moving from its first brick-and-mortar location in Mariemont to a larger space in Blue Ash.

The bakery specializes as a viennoiserie —a French word for “things from Vienna" — which refers to breakfast pastries that bridge pâtisserie and French bread and offers treats like eclairs, croissants, brioche cardamom buns and cruffins. It began as a pop-up before moving into a small storefront in a shopping plaza along Wooster Pike.

On May 1, the bakery announced it would be moving from that storefront after significantly outgrowing it. Owners Randy Sebastian and Laura Kate Adelman said the tiny space presented challenges to serving customers and lines that formed outside when the bakery opened on the weekends affected neighboring businesses and the relationship with their landlord.

“This decision was not made lightly and in no way diminishes our love and appreciation for this space, Mariemont, the neighboring communities and everything about this location,” Sebastian and Adelman wrote on social media. “It was the perfect space at the perfect time to get us to test the first phase of our business model and also to see if it could sustain itself during a very unknown time in our world … We also needed the time and this space to assure y’all wanted us to stick around for a while.”

On Wednesday, Sebastian Bakehouse made the second round of the announcement and shared it would be moving 15 minutes north to a space at The Approach at Summit Park.

“Do you wish you could spend every morning with your favorite SBH pastry in hand and that espresso beverage of choice while basking out in the beautiful sun catching up with friends while the kids are playing their hearts out like there's no tomorrow? … After months, if not over a year [plus] of looking into every space, nook and cranny, as well as every opportunity that has been presented to us for our next phase.....Sebastian Bakehouse is moving to Summit Park!”

The bakery doesn’t have a firm opening date at this time, but said its goal is to be operating in the new space as soon as possible.

“We won't make any promises just yet, but guarantee you this, we are working tirelessly behind the scenes with every spare minute we have to make this happen sometime this summer!” the owners shared.

Sebastian Bakehouse says customers can follow its social media for ongoing news and updates.
