As COVID-19 cases continue to climb, it is no secret that service workers and local businesses have it hard right now. And one generous patron (and Xavier fan) at Zip’s Cafe in Mount Lookout decided to help out the employees of the local burger spot.

Zip’s Cafe posted a picture of a receipt on their Facebook page, showing a customer had left a $1,000 tip on his $54.95 bill.

“Please share this tip will all of your employees as they work so hard and are dealing with COVID. Go Xavier!” the customer wrote on a napkin.

“This is the perfect chance for us to say, thank you!” the Facebook post says. “To our long time regulars and friends and to those of you finding us for the first time, thank you! To the gentleman and his daughters who left this incredibly generous tip this afternoon, with big smiles on our faces, we want to say, thank you! Cincinnati, we love you! Thank you!”

The East Side staple has been in the burger biz since 1926 and is well-known for their fan favorite Zipburgers, made with fresh, flame-broiled meat from local butcher Avril-Bleh & Sons, nestled in a toasted local bun, best served a side of super crispy onion rings.

Zip’s Cafe is located at 1036 Delta Ave. in Mount Lookout.
