Braxton Brewing Co. is gearing up for its annual Dark Charge Winter Block Party, with new Dark Charge Imperial Stout variants, including collaborations with two of Greater Cincinnati’s favorite brands for those with a sweet tooth.

This is the 10th year for Braxton Brewing’s block party, which celebrates the annual release of its barrel-aged imperial stout, Dark Charge, and the launch of limited-edition variants, as well as the unique blend of the German-based brewing culture of Cincinnati and Kentucky’s bourbon distilling heritage. The block party will take place from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 in and outside Braxton’s Covington taproom.

“Braxton takes great pride in being a Kentucky brewing company. Dark Charge … is a love letter to Kentucky’s unbridled spirit,” co-founder and CEO of Braxton Brewing Jake Rouse in a previous press release. “That spirit is brewed into this massive dark imperial stout and crafted and aged in bourbon barrels, giving a lasting depth and character to the finish.”

Announced variants include:

Doscher’s Candies Vanilla French Chew: Nostalgia in a glass, this variant is a creamy, bourbon barrel-aged stout infused with the flavors of Doscher’s French Chew taffy, with notes of chocolate, roasted malt and smooth vanilla, as well as oaky undertones.

Graeter’s Chip Set: Dark Charge is blended with iconic flavors from Graeter’s Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip, Toffee Chocolate Chocolate Chip and Mocha Chocolate Chip

Barrel-Aged Dark Charge Toasted Marshmallow: Dark Charge meets toasted marshmallow in this rich, dark bourbon barrel-aged stout. Flavors include chocolate and caramel, with oaky bourbon notes and a hint of vanilla.

Barrel-Aged Dark Charge Peanut Butter & Raspberry Jelly: A dark, velvety stout with notes of roasted peanuts and ripe, red raspberries.

Barrel-Aged Dark Charge: Salted Caramel: This stout features a blend of salt and caramel complemented by chocolate and coffee notes.

Braxton also collaborated with O.K.I. Spirits for the release of their first-ever bourbon: Dark Charge 10-Year-Old Stout-Finished Bourbon. The bourbon has been aging for 10 years in Dark Charge stout barrels, clocks in at 94 proof and is described as having a rich, complex flavor that’s perfect for enjoying neat or on the rocks.

These Dark Charge brews are currently available to order at darkchargeday.com for pickup only.

At the block party, visitors can also enjoy live music, including headliners Tracy Walker, Hoopty, Brother Smith and Kiss-107’s DJ JonJon. There will also be food available from food trucks Sweets & Meats BBQ, Red Sesame and Cincy Smash, as well as Dewey’s Pizza in Braxton’s taproom.

The Dark Charge Winter Block Party will be held at Braxton Brewing’s flagship location at 27 W. Seventh St., Covington. Learn more at darkchargeday.com.
