A staple for Southwestern fare and much-loved margaritas is closing its doors permanently after over three decades in business.

On Monday, Clifton restaurant Cactus Pear announced its closure on social media. Located just a few blocks from the University of Cincinnati, Cactus Pear has been fueling students and community members alike with its menu of fajitas, tacos and Mexican specialties for over 30 years. Cactus Pear was also consistently voted in the top 10 in CityBeat’s Best of Cincinnati Readers Poll for Best Margaritas.

Monday, Jan. 20 will be Cactus Pear’s last day in business. The owner did not provide a specific reason for the closing.

“ We appreciate the decades of loyal regulars and valued customers that have made Cactus Pear a staple of the Clifton and Cincinnati communities. Please stop in and see us during our final week or join us for a final Margarita Monday on 1/20. We thank you again for all of your support over the years,” the restaurant shared on Facebook.

Cactus Pear is among the slew of Greater Cincinnati restaurants that have closed or announced imminent closures within the past few months, including Habanero, also in Clifton; Opal Rooftop, Rich’s Proper and Omar’s Hangry Slider Shack in Covington; Revolution Rotisserie in Pleasant Ridge; and Amador and the Bridgeview Food Hall in Newport.
