Downtown coffee shop blaCk Coffee Lounge announced this week that it’s closing its flagship location on Elm Street, but it will reopen elsewhere.
“After six impactful years, we have decided to close our doors here at blaCk Coffee Lounge,” owner Means Cameron shared in a video on Instagram. “Though a bittersweet moment, it’s not a sad moment — more like a strategic pause for us. First, for us to take some time to think about the operation and how we can scale and grow our coffee business.”
blaCk Coffee Lounge first opened on Elm Street in July 2019. Cameron says that the landscape of downtown Cincinnati isn’t thriving the way it was before the pandemic and that he’s searching for a new home for the coffee shop. He adds that opening blaCk Coffee Lounge’s second location at UC Health’s Blood Cancer Healing Center in Clifton has given him more insight into where to focus retail operations.
“This isn’t a ‘goodbye’ situation,” said Cameron. “This is certainly a ‘see you later’ situation.'”
blaCk Coffee Lounge’s final day on Elm Street will be Saturday, Dec. 27, with a celebration of the last six years planned. The coffee shop’s location in Clifton will remain open while the team searches for a new location.
