A Cuban-inspired street food concept in Covington is changing locations.

El Jefe’s Cubanos and More announced on social media last week that, after two years, it was transitioning from its location in Covington Yard, an outdoor food court and entertainment venue, to nearby bar The Well.

Its last day at Covington Yard was Friday, Jan. 23.

“We are incredibly grateful for the love and support from the Covington Yard community over the last two years,” Jefe Coleman, El Jefe’s Cubanos and More’s owner, said in a press release. “This partnership with The Well Covington represents an exciting next step for our brand. We can’t wait to bring our food, our energy and our passion to a new home and continue growing with our community.”

Coleman adds that El Jefe’s new home at The Well will have a different menu from the one at Covington Yard, but the new location will allow it to expand its reach and continue delivering the authentic and flavorful Cuban-inspired food it’s become known for. Service at The Well is planned to begin in early February with a limited menu, followed by an official grand opening later in the month.

El Jefe’s will replace Beards & Bellies BBQ as the food vendor at The Well. Last week, Beards & Bellies BBQ owner Mitch Arens announced the concept would leave The Well at the end of January when its lease expires.

“This isn’t the end of Beards & Bellies,” founder Mitch Arens said at the time. “It’s a moment to take a breath, reflect on what we’ve built, and make sure the next space we land in truly feels like home for us and for the people who’ve supported us from the start.”
