Just days away from the biggest celestial show of the year, some Cincinnati businesses are offering a sweet way to enhance your eclipse experience.

On Monday, April 8, a total solar eclipse will take over the sky, casting a swathe of the United States, including the western and northwestern portions of the Greater Cincinnati area, in complete darkness for just about two-and-half minutes (around 3:09-3:17 p.m., depending where you are in this path of totality) as the shadow of the moon moves directly in front of the sun.

To celebrate, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams in Norwood, Buckabee Brownies in Blue Ash and Aglamesis Bro’s in Oakley and Montgomery are all crafting some unique eclipse-themed desserts.

For a limited time, you can try one of three new flavors as part of Jeni’s Punk Stargonaut collection:

  • Nebula Berry: Blueberry tartness with raspberry vibrancy and an elderflower fragrance
  • Cosmic Bloom: Tropical and citrusy with mandarin, kiwi and passion fruit flavors
  • Purple Star Born: Juicy and reminiscent of Concord grapes with a hint of blackcurrant sourness

Also part of the collection is a returning favorite, Supermoon, which tastes like candied violets and marshmallows, and a new space-themed topping, Space Dust, a fizzy popping candy you can add to any Punk Stargonaut flavor for just 50 cents.

Jeni’s’ scoop shops will also be offering exclusive branded eclipse glasses, free with purchase the weekend of April 5. And on April 8, the Space Dust topping will be free with any Punk Stargonaut flavor purchase.

Jeni’s isn’t the only ice cream shop getting in on the fun. Aglamesis Bro’s will also offer some eclipse-themed ice cream and candy from now through April 8:

  • Eclipse Pecande: Pecans draped in layers of rich caramel, white chocolate and dark chocolate
  • Oreo Eclipse: An Oreo cookie on a stick dipped in dark chocolate and topped with a white chocolate disk
  • Eclipse Dip: A duo of vanilla and chocolate ice cream scoops, layered with chocolate sprinkles

Or if brownies or blondies are more your thing, Buckabee Brownie will be offering its limited-edition Out-Of-This-World Brownie, a white chocolate brownie with a fudge bottom. Or from April 4-6, order a box of assorted brownies with the Eclipse Dozen Box for $23.40. The box includes:

  • Out-Of-This-World Brownie
  • Fudgy Chocolate, Cookies & Cream Brownie
  • Confetti Blondie
  • Chocolate Chip Blondie

You also get two pairs of solar eclipse glasses with every box purchase.
