We’re finally starting to feel the changing of the seasons, and a number of Cincinnati’s outdoor igloo and heated patios are opening to keep you cozy.

Covington’s Braxton Brewing Co. has reopened its IGLOOBAR private igloos. The brewery has turned its rooftop into a warm “oasis” for the chilly time of year. The igloos started in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions as a way for people to enjoy brews while staying socially distanced in a somewhat-outdoor setting.

Patrons can reserve a spot that seats eight people comfortably for two hours with “cushioned seating, a dedicated Bluetooth speaker (upon request), & cozy decor.” The reservation fee for the igloos is $30, with bar tabs and optional food and drink packages as separate bills.

Newport's Bridgeview Box Park, a cluster of small food, drink and shopping vendors conglomerated where Mitchell’s Fish Market used to sit at Newport on the Levee, opened in July of 2020 to the public. The establishments are housed next to each other in shipping-like containers — hence “box park” — and are interspersed among a common outdoor area.

To keep business humming last year during the pandemic, the park enclosed the outdoor area with a winterized tent. And in good news for Greater Cincinnati, Bridgeview is doing it again.

Winter weather won’t stop this downtown rooftop patio from keeping the party going. The AC Upper Deck at The Banks will transform into a winter wonderland, offering cozy, illuminated igloos this season.

Once the temperature dips, the rooftop bar will feature four heated igloos that seat up to eight guests each and comply with coronavirus health precautions. According to the business' Facebook page, reservations will be available shortly.
